Australian studio b.e. Architecture have completed a house in Melbourne clad in basalt slabs of varying size and thickness. The house, 57 Tivoli Road, is located on a sloping corner plot and has internal courtyards. A six metre-long window in the living room slides open over views of the city. Quarry Lamps by Benjamin Humbert for De la Espada
Benjamin Hubert has designed the Quarry pendant lamps for De La Espada. Description from the designer: Hand-turned, thin-walled marble pendant lights with roughly finished interior, to add texture and describe the story of stone production. Quarry utilizes the marble’s translucent properties to diffuse the light and reveal its veining. The traditional material is offset by the use of an LED, which allows the large hand-turned internal cavity to remain open and uncluttered. Villa Festen by BBVH Architects
The organization of the house and its position on the plot is aimed at the sun. The entrance, garage, bathrooms and storage rooms are all located at the north east side. The living room, dining room, bedrooms and the terraces are all located at the south side. A spacious garden on the sunny side is created by moving the house as much as possible to the north side of the plot. The living room has a glass façade with large sliding doors.
